Our Vision

It is our goal that the youth of alaska experience God's love, lasting freedom, and abundant
life.

Our Mission

The Galley is a Christian ministry that champions youth by providing a safe place for
building connections, life skills, practical goals, character development, and God-given
identity with love and acceptance.

Strategy

Team

We have a team of volunteers from around the Homer community who have a desire to make a difference in the lives of our youth. The volunteers are under the supervision of a paid staff, the Galley Captain, who provides on-going training, direction, and accountability for the team. We also will refer youth to other local agencies and resources when needed.

Meal

We will provide a free hot meal for the youth, to meet that practical need and to communicate genuine care.

Growth

If needed, our navigators will work with the youth to connect them to resources, some of which are already provided by agencies in the Homer area for housing, additional food, advocacy, GED completion, and other help as appropriate. If a young person wants to engage in a conversation of a spiritual nature, we can respond and provide that as well.

Relationship

Our primary focus is to form genuine relationships with the youth of our area, to come along side them with a listening ear, to hear their story and build hopefulness for the future. This includes building connection and trust with parents, other family members, and teachers.

Connection

We want to invite our Homer youth into a healthy community experience, where relationships are honoring, safe, and communicate the intrinsic worth of every individual.

Sustainability

We are committed to a sustainable model of honor and respect in how we interact with our volunteers, partners and supporters who all contribute to this vital connection to the youth of Homer. This includes continuing to increase and nurture our support partners and volunteer team.
